Finland is inviting 16 international singles to take part in a culinary and cultural experience in February 2027, combining Finnish cuisine with opportunities to meet local people.
The initiative, called Finnish Dinner Date, is organised by Visit Finland. Eight participants will travel to Helsinki and another eight to Tampere between February 9 and 19. The four-day trips will include flights, accommodation, meals and cultural activities, with expenses covered by the tourism organisation.
The programme will culminate in group dinners featuring official Finnish tasting menus created by renowned chefs. Participants will also meet local Finnish singles during the events.
The campaign draws inspiration from sinkkukori, a Finnish dating trend in which single shoppers use pink baskets at supermarkets to signal that they are open to meeting someone.
“Food brings Finns together, and now we are inviting travellers to join us in a truly one-of-a-kind way,” said Heli Jimenez, senior director of international marketing at Business Finland.
Applications are open to single adults aged 18 and above from around the world, excluding Finnish citizens and residents. Applicants must apply individually.
To enter, candidates must record a short video in English answering the question: “What would you serve on a dinner date, and why?” They must post it on Instagram, TikTok or YouTube using #FinnishDinnerDate and tag Visit Finland. Applicants must then complete the official online form and include a link to their video.
Applications close on November 10, 2026, at 11:59 a.m. Finnish time. Selected participants will be announced on December 1 through Visit Finland’s social media channels.
The organisers say the campaign aims to introduce international visitors to Finnish food traditions and culture. While the dinners offer an opportunity to make personal connections, finding romance is not guaranteed.
